Untangling Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion feud
One thing about Hollywood? There will always be a hot feud. One that keeps most of us on the edge waiting for what will happen next. So far, we have witnessed some big feuds in Hollywood, let’s say like Kanye West and Drake, Kanye West and Taylor Swift, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj and so many others. Now, even if you are not an internet junkie and you use internet healthily, I am sure you have recently come across some bits of Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion being in the state that one cannot describe as friendly. So, here is what happened.
When Megan Thee Stallion normally releases a new hit, it is always a cause of celebration and this time it is no different. That is, unless your name is Nicki Minaj or you are one of her Barbz. On Friday, when Thee Stallion released her latest hit which she dubbed “Hiss,” people, or at least Nicki Minaj’s fans couldn’t help but notice that the rapper took a shot at their icon and her husband, Kenneth Petty.
“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s law.” Rapped The Huston rapper on ‘Hiss’, apparently referencing to the federal law that requires information about registered sex offenders be made available to public. While this dos not directly point to Nicki Minaj or her husband Kenneth, that is, if you are not aware of their legal troubles which had Kenneth plead guilty to the attempted rape of a then 16-year-old in 1994, which happened when Kenneth himself was also 16 year old. In 2020, he was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in California. A year later. Kenneth’s victim Jennifer Hough, sued both Kenneth and his wife Minaj for harassment, claiming that the two tried several times to get her to recant her accusations, but the rapper was dropped from the suit eventually.
Nicki Minaj who was not mentioned by name by Thee Stallion in her alleged diss song against the former, after listening to “Hiss,” hoped on Instagram live and shared a verse that appeared to be a Meg diss.
“Bad B***she like six foot, I call her big foot.” Minaj says on the track. :”The B*** fell off, I said get up on your good foot” — which seemingly referenced to the fact the Thee Stallion was shot in the foot in 2020 by Tory Lanez. At Lanez’s trial in 2022 where he was found guilty, Megan spoke on the harassment she had received about coming forward, “I don’t feel like I want to be on this earth. I wish he would have just shot and killed me if I knew I would have to go through this torture.” To add more insult to the injury, Nicki Minaj also shared a photo of her foot on X.
Additionally, the Pink Friday singer during Stationhead, said, “How many D*** of abusers have you knowingly? Bringing up a 30-year-old tea from when a man was 15, being lied on, is not the flex you think it is.” She continued, “Constantly mentioning a man who is not an artist, i9s not on social media. It just shows me you have nothing, like your flows… you are still learning how to rap, and that is the truth.”
Later, Nicki took to her social media handle and shared a cryptic post that read, “Y’all want to bring up family members? And lying on your dead mother? Lied to Gayle. Lied on and F*** your best friend man?!! Told me to drink and go to the clinic if I was pregnant.”
However, Thee Stallion’s fans were not impressed by Nicki’s comments, as one user wrote, “It is not 30-year-old tea. It is real public information that is available thanks to Megan’s law, which prevents your husband from taking your son to school for his entire life, and your best come back is “Big foot, good foot.” Another one commented, “Nicki throwing all this shade as if she is not literally married to a predator is laughable.” “Calling rape of a girl 30-year old tea is very disgusting and insensitive. Someone of her status should not be talking like this.”
On Friday morning when Megan was called into the breakfast club to talk about her new song and asked if she was saying any names on the track, the rapper said, “I am saying a hit dog gon holler.” Well, there you have it. In addition, Meg also shared a blurry photo of herself laughing to her Instagram story, in case you needed to figure out how she is feeling about this whole saga.
In case you wondered, this is not the first time that these two female Hip Hop Goddesses are on each other’s throats. In 2023, on “Red ruby Da sleeze,” Nicki Minaj was accused of taking multiple jabs at her one time collaborator Megan Thee Stallion. Nicki Minaj in the aforementioned song rapped, “Never leave you/700 on them horses when we fixing to leave/ but I don’t F*** with horses since Christopher Reeves.” The rap queen continued, “DORITO B**** MAD THAT THEY NOT CHOSE.” Last year, Megan created a branded track dubbed “Flamin’ hottie” for a super bowl flamin’ hot Cheetos and Doritos commercial.
In another mostly eyebrow raising line, Nicki Minaj raps, “That 40 cal make them dance like a go-go.” Which many thought was a reference to Tory Lanez allegedly shooting Thee Stallion in the foot while shouting “Dance, B***, dance,”
Back in 2019, Nicki hoped on Stallion’s hit “Hot girl summer,” but since then, there have been speculations that their relationship has gone cold, also due to the fact that the following year, Megan Thee Stallion teamed up with Cardi B, a known long time enemy of Nicki Minaj on their featured song, WAP.
In a September 2022 episode of the Queens Radio show on AMP, Rapper Nicki Minaj told a story of how an unnamed female rapper tried to lure her to consume alcohol despite that fact that Nicki was pregnant at the time. Minaj also alleged that the unnamed female rapper also suggested that she gets an abortion in order to be able to enjoy her life. Shortly after the episode was released, fans speculated that the unnamed rapper that Nicki was talking about was Megan Thee Stallion.
