Typically when a couple gets married (no, not in Hollywood though! Lol), they are told to keep an eye out for the so-called “seven year itch”, when they are fully settled into their marriage and might start feeling a little relentless.
Well, Hollywood is a different story obviously. Yes, there are those Hollywood marriages that have lasted long. I mean very long. The likes of Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, Kristine Miller and William Schuyler. The list goes on.
However, there are others who didn’t even make it past 55 hours of marriage. Yeah, you got it right.
Mind you, the shortest marriage in the whole world however is not from Hollywood. Not even close.
The world’s shortest marriage only lasted for 3 minutes and the couple that achieved it is a lovely couple from Kuwait. They divorced when They had not even yet left the courthouse where they exchanged the vows! Wow. But that’s a story for another day; Today we are in the world of glitz and glamour and we are going to take a look at the top 10 shortest Hollywood weddings.
10. BRADLEY COOPER AND JENNIFER ESPOSITO: 122 DAYS
After getting engaged in October 2016 as confirmed by their reps, the two actors quietly tied the knot in December 2016 in South of France but little did they know that after only 122 days their marriage would be no more.
Just after four months into the marriage, people confirmed that Cooper and Esposito split, citing irreconcilable differences.
Esposito filed for divorce in May 2007, as first reported by TMZ.
Cooper’s rep called the divorce mutual noting that the pair has been separated for quite a while.
9. PAMELA ANDERSON AND KID ROCK: 122 DAYS
Despite their on-again, off-again status of their mid-aughts relationship, the two got married on a yatch in July of 2006. Unfortunately, their marriage only lasted for about four months before Anderson filed for divorce in November of that year. In 2018 she revealed that she hadn’t spoken to Kid Rock since their split.
Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock met in 2001 at a VH1 Divas live tribute to Aretha Franklin in New York City at Radio City Music Hall. The two met backstage and Kid Rock had performed that day alongside the queen of soul. A year after their initial meeting, Kid Rock popped the question and the two got engaged in April 2002. The following year in 2003, the couple called off their engagement after being rumored to have wed in November 2002.
Anderson talking about their split to People, she said, “The word that describes me now is ‘free,” adding, “That’s all I will say. I am a mom, and that’s where my life is at.” Rock on the other side told Rolling Stone that “I dropped all contact with her,” further explaining that Anderson’s decision to live in Malibu over Michigan and the headaches surrounding their prenup were what drove them apart.
Three years after their split, the former fiancées reconnected in St. Tropez at a mutual friend’s yacht. The two rekindled their flame. Rock told Rolling Stone, “It was like, ‘let’s just f—- get married and get it over with,” which they later announced they were set to wed on July 18. On July 29, 2006, Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson wed on a yacht in St. Tropez in a non-legally binding ceremony. A few days later, the two wed again but this time legally in Beverly Hills. The couple who were obviously head over heels in love with one another, said “I DO” for the third time in Nashville.
Unfortunately for the couple, on 27, November, 2006, just four months after tying the knot, Pamela filed for divorce from Kid Rock citing ‘Irreconcilable differences.’ Pamela Anderson later said on her blog that she and Kid Rock don’t belong together, and on 10, October, 2007, Kid Rock said that Married life sucks.
8. AMELIA WARNER AND COLIN FARREL: 121 DAYS
In a non-legally binding ceremony in Tahiti in July of 2001, the two got married.
The two separated about four months after and their split was a lot simpler because there were no legal strings attached to them.
“Too fast, too young” Farrel later said of his short lived married to Warner, who has now been married to Jamie Dornan for Almost six years.
7. NICOLAS CAGE AND LISA MARIE PRESLEY: 107 DAYS
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the case where the divorce proceedings lasted longer than the actual marriage. Nicolas and Lisa tied the knot in August of 2002 and ended their union the following November.
Their divorce took until 2004 to get finalized.
6. KRIS HUMPHRIES AND KIM KARDASHIAN: 72 DAYS
What’s a list without a Kardashian-Jenner clan representatives? Kim Kardashian, the queen of reality television represented her family on this one with a wedding of 72 days to NBA star Kris Humphries. The two wedded in a lavish August 2011 wedding to the millions of viewers of Kim’s fairytale wedding.
To the world’s shock, the two divorced after 72 days citing irreconcilable differences.
“The only thing that bothers me is whenever people say that my marriage was fake.” Kris later wrote in a March 2019 essay. Adding “There is a lot about that world that is not entirely real. But our relationship was 100 percent real”
Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian started dating in October 2010 after being introduced in New York City. The following year in May 2011, the Minnesota native proposed to the SKIMS founder at her home, which he later explained on an episode of ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ that he wanted to make the proposal as simple as possible, without any distraction. “I just want it to be in her home. Quiet and perfect.” He said.
The couple tied the knot in the Montecito enclave of California on August 20, 2011 in a star-studded ceremony that was attended mainly by their friends and family. The lavish ceremony was filmed for the four-hour E! Special Kim’s fairytale wedding, which aired on October 2011. Exactly 72 days after exchanging their vows, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries citing ‘Irreconcilable differences.’
5. JEREMY THOMAS AND DREW BARRYMORE: 39 DAYS
Here we go with the ones that couldn’t make it past 40 days.
In March 1994, when Barrymore was only 19, she said “I DO” to the then 31-year-olf bar owner during a night partying (well, yeah… of course) after just six weeks of dating.
“Everything about us is like fate” Barrymore told people of her impromptu nuptials, fatefully enough, a little over a month later, the two officially split.
4. MARIO LOPEZ AND ALI LANDRY: 18 DAYS
After 6 years of dating, 6 years!, Lopez and Landry wed in a romantic ceremony in Mexico in April 2004, only to file for divorce after over two weeks later.
Years later, Lopez finally confirmed that the divorce happened because Landry has cheated on her during his bachelor party.
3. TRACEY EDMONDS AND EDDIE MURPHY: 14 DAYS
On New Year’s Day of 2008, the two wed in a romantic ceremony sunset ceremony on a private island in French Polynesia and exactly two weeks later they announced their split.
However, since they’d held off on getting their marriage license in the US, hosting only what they called ‘a symbolic ceremony’ instead of formally filing for a divorce, Edmonds and Murphy had to simply call off their plans for the stateside legal ceremony.
2. NICOLAS CAGE AND ERIKA KOIKE: 4 DAYS
Before most of the world even knew that Cage and the makeup artist were even dating, the two had already gotten married and almost immediately split up.
Four days after tying the knot in Las Vegas in March 2019, a mere hours after being spotted having a very public argument with her, Cage filed for an annulment.
1, BRITNEY SPEARS AND JASON ALEXANDER: 55 HOURS
This might not be the shortest marriage to ever exist, but it sure is the most famous one.
In 2004, the pop princess said “I do” to her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas’s infamous little white wedding chapel.
Both clad in blue jeans, and Brit in a trucker hat, the two exchanged their vows and after a mere 55 hours of their marriage, the two annulled their marriage citing that Britney “Lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to the marriage”
Brittney herself referred to the incident as “me being silly and rebellious”, then went on to marry Kevin Federline the following October (before filing for divorce little over two years later)
Britney Spears has had her fair share of heartbreaks as she has so far been divorced three times, the recent one being with her recent ex-husband Sam Asghari.
