Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho Elected as 6th Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese by House of Bishops

In a momentous occasion for the Church of Uganda, the House of Bishops convened at the Daniel Uganda Mission Centre in Lweza Church of Uganda on April 17th, 2024, and unanimously elected Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho as the 6th Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese. The announcement marks a significant milestone for both the diocese and the wider Anglican community in Uganda.

Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho, a distinguished clergyman known for his dedication to ministry and pastoral care, emerged as the clear choice among a pool of esteemed candidates. His exemplary leadership qualities, deep spirituality, and unwavering commitment to the church’s mission have earned him widespread respect and admiration among his peers and congregants alike.

Born and raised in Bunyoro Kitara, Rev Canon Ateirweho brings a wealth of local knowledge and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing the diocese.
