General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who assumed the role of CDF following a recent reshuffle within the UPDF leadership, reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to fostering constructive dialogue and collaboration with neighboring countries, including Rwanda. As a seasoned military strategist with extensive experience in regional security affairs, General Kainerugaba brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

The meeting between General Kainerugaba and the Rwandan military delegation underscores the importance of open channels of communication and cooperation in addressing shared security challenges and promoting peace and stability in the region. Both sides expressed their commitment to building trust, enhancing mutual understanding, and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives aimed at enhancing regional security.

During the discussions, various issues of mutual interest were addressed, including border security, counterterrorism efforts, and joint training exercises. The delegations also explored avenues for further collaboration in areas such as intelligence sharing, capacity building, and military-to-military exchanges.

The engagement between the UPDF and RDF reflects a broader trend of improving relations between Uganda and Rwanda, following a period of tension and strained diplomatic ties. Both countries have expressed their willingness to move past past differences and work towards building a more constructive and cooperative relationship based on mutual respect and shared interests.
